YOUR GUIDING LIGHT
"Even though I walk through the valley of darkness, I fear no evil. For the Lord is with me, His rod and his staff comfort me." ~ Psalm 23:4
This is one well known verse that we all can relate to. Its either you have learned it from Pre-School, Sunday School or it was your daily poetry song during night prayers at home. Regardless of the place, but this verse, you just know!
This together with the famous Philippians 4:19 (...my God will provide...) verse has been the most quoted verses I've ever read. Well, I am not a Bible Interpreter, I would just like to empower women who live by these verses to shift focus from the spiritual meaning of them to a more practical interpretation.
As we stumble along the path of life, we meet situations that become rather stalemates. It is often when we are defeated, weak, confused and powerless when we resort to blanket those situations with spirituality. One thing I admire and respect about spiritual faith is that it can not be 'proven' like Science. It is either you have faith or you don't, there are no calculations. So when we cannot figure out life or calculate the root of our problems, we tend to just put a full-stop at things by installing a gate called faith.
Experience and life taught me that you cannot fight Physical/Scientific matters with Spirit. You need to fight Spirit with Spirit, Science with Science and Life matters with practical solutions. If you are not happy at your current job, you cannot resign without securing another, and say "God will provide" - this will not work!
One thing that has been instrumental for me in my life is to have something to hold on to, my motivation and my purpose. Something that makes me want to wake up in the morning and strive. Something that always gives me a reminder of why I should live. It can be anything from your past (that you would like to change), your children, family, career aspirations or your deepest desired goals. For example - Most men change their entire perception on life immediately when they are called "Daddy". Its almost as if they fear to disappoint their living little beings, they start living for their children. In most cases, this becomes their guiding light - their motivation to wake up each day and create new possibilities. Now God provides for a man with a purpose.
"Though you walk through the valley of darkness, you shall walk lost if you do not have purpose" ~ (Tamara Booi International version - Verse: 1: infinite).
What is it that touches your core-being in life? What makes you tick? What brings out the best in you? What is it that puts a smile on your face regardless of the weather? What gives you a certain good vibe about you? What makes you truly happy, with or with anyone around you? Your answer is your motivation to success. It is that which will walk you out of the valley of darkness. If you don't know it yet, I'd suggest you find it. Once you do, you have won half the battle of life. Without it, its like walking around in the jungle hoping that someone will come and rescue you. Reality is, life IS a jungle. One just needs to know what she wants to get out of it and how. Finding your motivation gives your life some form of order and direction. Even if you lose your path along the way (which you will most probably will), when you find it - you will know exactly where you were heading.
Your life motivation may have nothing to do with your boyfriend, your friends and sometimes even your husband. Your boss too has no power over your purpose! This immediately empowers you to know that no one really has the power to completely change your situation. You are entirely responsible for who you are to become.
Until next time - Find your guiding light.
